Awhile ago I bought a large box of antique/vintage laces and trims. I have only scratched the surface of what was in there, I found a fun use: adorning velvet blazers. I get velvet blazers at the thrift stores and reline, trim and give them a new life. I posted one a while ago with keys as buttons, but I just wanted to show you more cause you asked for it. And some other goodies I have been working on

01:51 pm - Composting
I now have my very own can-o-worms composting bin! I just put 1000 red wigglers into it and can't wait to start feeding it kitchen scraps! This is sooo friggen cool.
It was a little strange opening a package of worms and I admit I was a bit freaked out, but actually they are kinda cute! :)
Must get the book: worms eat my garbage.

Just started my can-o-worms worm bin. I am soo excited! :) Its is kinda weird opening a package of worms from the mail though, I was a bit freaked out at first but they are kinda cute. heh.
I know it will take them awhile to be able to eat lots from my kitchen but I just wanted to ask, what kinds of things do you compost? Its a vegan household so its mostly vegi scraps. Is there anything that you compost that one might not think to compost? I know newspaper you can wet and stick in there, any other types of paper?
I was also thinking last nite about the article someone posted on worms that have evolved to eat heavy metals, do you think that worms could ever evolve to eat one of our worst problems: plastic? Or do you think there might be any scientists that are working to develop that? Just curious is all.

Soooo have a craving for mashed tatters. Got potatoes and green onions and vegan butter. Nom Nom Nom. Now I have to find the strength to mash them...
But I am hungry, for the first time in a week! :)

10:16 am - Yesterday was a hellaofa day
I hate insurance. Hate Hate Hate. I drove to downtown LA yesterday mid afternoon, down the clogged 10 freeway. Its 3 o'clock, all lanes moving at a swift 15 mph. My head is about to explode. I can't even begin to go into the place I received medical treatment. I was positive the parking lot was going to lock me in and tow me away. The place was half church have prompt care. I am not sure why I couldn't come till 3pm, there was NOBODY there. I don't think I have ever been the only one at a prompt care service, in the Middle of downtown LA, in the middle of flu season. The only thing you could hear was the screaming baby in the pediatrics service....
She told me I have a ear infection, viral infection, and skin infection. Fun! And a swollen gland that is so big that if it doesn't go down she wants me to get a biopsy on it.
All and all I walked out with 6 prescriptions. Including one for codine cough syrup, with one refill, for the cough in her words " that I am going to have" Got to the pharmacy to find out I would have to wait an hour. got them filled except the pain killer.
Started taking the antibiotic, ear stuff and hoped to get better. Last nite it got worse. Fever shot up and just generally miserable. Today, a bit better. Thank god, cause if I don't get back to sewing, I am going to get worried!!!!

05:02 pm - sleeping...
I slept 11 hours last night. Bits a on a off, mostly on though. I just took a 2.5 hour nap. Hummm...how the hell am I still tired! The flu. Damn you!!!! Tomorrow if I am still dizzy and weak I will go to urgent care. I have had yet to find a doctor in Southern Cal, so urgent care it is. Hopefully everything is ok. The fever and chills are driving me nuts and the sore throat is terribly painful, really I should be sewing quite a bit right now.

I have some experimental designs ( want to see how people like them and decide if I should keep doing them) that include netting ribbons for decorative wrapping and another one that I have riveted a door slide on. :)

09:52 pm - Sunburn, etsy, saturdays and moving
Oh man, we are going to be out of here in about a month. There is so much to do and so many people to see. I can't believe we are moving, we are buying a home (still in escrow) and we love sitting home on Saturdays!
Yup Saturday. The day we go to the farmers market, makes plans for the rest of the day, find the couch and stay there. Well today was no different except I got sunburned on my back. It sucks too because I have a bandage where I got the mole removed (2 stitches whoo!) and I was wearing a top with some crazy straps in back so I have a crazy looking burn on my back!
Then we came home, made plans to go on the paddle boats and instead watched the rest of the second season of How I met your mother and sat around. We have decided this is what saturdays are about. Nothing more!!
Well I did post more things on Etsy! whoo! I really really need to have real photo shoots. Im going to work on that when I move to LA. Things on people are good for pictures.
Well off to making a list of things I want to do in the next month. Can't wait till work is over!

You know your a costumer when...
Your not really paying attention to the movie, you turn your head to watch Jane Austin (Anne Hathaway) sit down at her desk to write a letter and you can see her thong under her chemise. Had to rewind. Yup a nice thong up her butt.

So much work to do. I shoot a music video in less then a week. I have had about a week and a half to put it together. No crew, hardly a budget, no time. We will see what happens.
BTW, anyone live near SJSU? Within walking or public transit who has a couch I could crash on. I am there from Thursday to Sunday. I believe I have a place to stay on Friday nite and Sat nite. Anyone have space on thurs?
Fashion stuff is well. I am making an outfit out of my wedding dress remains. Its funny, I keep remembering everything: the putting together of the dress and everything, the rehersal dinner fire sprinklers, the wedding! It was so fun!
Anyway keep the date of May 8th free. Its a Thursday. DNA Lounge Emerging Illusions. :)
